The indoor tanning process is quite similar to that of tanning outdoors since the UV lamps imitate the sun. Tanning takes place when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. The lamps in indoor tanning equipment emit UV light, as the sun does, but with different ratio of UVA and UVB and in a more controlled environment. In a sunbed, you have control over your exposure and you can achieve even results following the correct exposure times for your skin.
For the first few times, if you have never been on a sunbed before - we recommend starting lower at 3 minutes or 6 minutes and building up, this will depend on your skin type and should comply with safety guidelines.. The limit for our sunbeds is 12 minutes, we do not let anyone go on longer than this. Your safety comes first, and this is the limit for our sunbeds because of our bulb strength.
Before using a sunbed you must be firstly aware of your skin type. It is recommended to ask your dermatologist and complete a skin analysis form which will determine your skin type. This will enable you to know your tanning abilities and how to use a sunbed wisely avoiding overexposure. Your skin type determines if your skin is suitable for tanning and for how long you are able to be exposed to UV radiation. You can find out about skin types and their sun exposure here.
The outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, replaces the upper cells every 28-30 days. It takes 4 weeks for the cells to move to the surface and ‘slough off’. So this means that your tan can last approximately 2-4 weeks after your last session.
The tanning process is different from person to person. Tanning on a regular basis within the safety tanning guidelines will enable you to see results and prevent your tan from fading. Do not use tanning equipment more than once within the same 24 hours. It is always recommended to repeat the tanning session to build up your tan gradually.
By UK law, people under the age of 18 are not allowed to use sunbeds and you will be asked for proof of age such as a driving license, passport or birth certificate. Before coming for your first sunbed, make sure you bring this with you as you may need to show it. We reserve full rights to ask for ID if someone does not look over the age of 18.
Yes! It is essential that you wear eye protection / goggles during any UV exposure from the sunbeds. If you don’t do this, continued exposure could damage your retina and lead to any other eye issues such as Photokeratitis (Cornea Sunburn), Cataracts, Pterygium (Abnormal tissue growth) and damage to the Cornea.
Also, it is recommended that you remove contact lenses before a tanning session as they may cause irritation.
No, but a premium tanning lotion helps protect your skin from aging and can help the tan to develop faster. Specific moisturisers, bronzers and accelerators are formulated for indoor tanning to enhance the skin's reaction to UV light and to maintain moisture.
We have a selection of tanning lotions available to buy, specially developed for indoor tanning. We do not allow gels / oils on our lie down sunbed as this can crack the acrylic, so these can only be used on our stand up sunbed.
When you use a tanning lotion, do not shower for at least 24 hours after the tanning session. This allows your skin to maximise the results of the cream. The tanning lotion should be applied liberally to all areas that will be exposed to UV.
We sell lotions for your face as well, the skin on your face is different to your body as it is thinner and much more sensitive. To maximise tanning results on your face we recommend specifically designed face creams that can be purchased in the salon. Sometimes, body lotions can also cause irritation if they get in your eyes.
Some medications can increase your sensitivity to UV light and therefore might cause sunburn. It is best to check with your GP before using the sunbeds if any of your medical conditions have changed.
Some skin disorders can be helped with UV light, for example, Eczema and Psoriasis. Always consult your doctor when you're taking medication or contact your dermatologist about whether it is alright for you to enjoy indoor tanning.
Perfume, make-up, deodorant or other cosmetics can influence the effect UV light has on your skin. It is common that these cosmetics increase the sensitivity of your skin and can also increase the chance of getting sunburned. Some cosmetics also contain SPF's that will block the UV from the bed. Therefore, make sure your skin is clean and you are not wearing any cosmetics before you start your tanning session.
Your skin needs time to utilise UV exposure from the sun as well as from the tanning device. The melanocytes in your skin need time to produce melanin which gives your skin that tan colour. The legally required amount of time between a sunbed is at least 24 hours since your last session before you can go on again.
Take care of your tan by using a tan extending moisturiser. These products have been specifically formulated to help lock in moisture while indoor tanning. As well as improving the condition of your skin they also help to keep your melanin accelerated between your tanning session which will result in a constantly improving tanning result.
Also, if you cannot use a sunbed for an extended period of time, a tan extender is ideal to help maintain your colour!
It is recommended not to use any tanning equipment whilst pregnant.
After having a tattoo you should wait at least one month (preferably 4-6 weeks) for your tattoo to heal completely before going on a sunbed, if you don’t want to see it fading too soon. After the healing process, it is recommended to use a sun block product on this area, a special cream or alternatively you can cover your tattoo with clothing or a bandage. In any case, you should make sure that your tattoo is protected by the UV rays which cause damage to the ink.

No, they do not need to breathe but you can use cuticle oil to rehydrate/nourish the new nail growth after getting a nail service.
Several reasons including medication, diet or injury/trauma to the nail. Unfortunately, it can just happen as you get older.
Yes, they will grow slower in the winter due to slower circulation in the body. Also, they will need more nourishing as they will take the brunt of the cold, even if you wear gloves.
Yes! This is one of the main factors for lifting of nails, when your nails absorb water they expand, and when they dry again they shrink. This can make nails start to lift and if water gets under lifting can then lead to greenies (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), if you get a greenie - the product on the nail has to come off and product can only go back on that nail once the greenie has completely grown out. Make sure to wear gloves when doing dishes or cleaning to protect your nails from any water!

Permanent jewellery or welded bracelets is one of the newest and most intriguing trends happening right now. We use a simple welding method to secure the most beautiful, delicate gold filled or silver chain to perfectly fit your wrist with a seamless, clasp less finish. The perfect 'forever' memento.
Absolutely. The bracelet is only welded closed, it does not weld to your skin. We use the highest quality machine on the market and the spark that is generated from the machine does not reach high temperatures. We also provide protective eyewear and a protective layer between the skin and the jewellery between welds.
Yes, although we love the fact these bracelets are clasp less and are the perfect 'forever' memento, they can be removed with a pair of sharp scissors. We can also add a clasp at any point if you decide to make it removable.
Jewellery will only set off metal detectors if it's made from magnetic metals. Gold filled jewellery is not magnetic so will not set off airport alarms. Sterling silver is also not magnetic.
Gold filled jewellery or silver does not impact an MRI scan as it is not magnetic. However some medical professionals ask you to remove all jewellery or clothing with metal parts. If your welded jewellery needs to be removed, simply cut the chain at the jump ring and it can be brought back to the salon to be re welded.
There is no minimum age requirement. However, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. It is a good idea to check your school's policies regarding wearing jewellery for sports etc.
As this is a bespoke, personalised service with made-to-measure chains, we can not offer refunds. If you lose your chain we can not offer a refund. If you break your chain at the weld point within the first week, if you contact us and bring your chain back, we will re-weld it free of charge.
