For users who are using a sunbed for the first time, there is no rush and health and safety comes first. It is suggested to have shorter sessions up to 3 minutes up to three times a week based on your skin type. This will help you build your tan up gradually. For those that are more experienced, then you could have sessions up to 6 minutes. In any case, the amount of time spent in a sunbed should vary according on your skin type and should comply with the safety guidelines.
The tanning process is different from person to person. Tanning on a regular basis within the safety tanning guidelines will enable you to see results and prevent your tan from fading. Do not use any tanning equipment more than once in the same 24 hours. It is always recommended to repeat the tanning session to build up your tan gradually.
The minimum age to tan in the UK is 18 and no one under the age of 18 is allowed to enter any tanning room or use any UV tanning equipment. We reserve full rights to ask for ID if someone does not look over the age of 18.
The indoor tanning process is quite similar to that of tanning outdoors since the UV lamps imitate the sun. Tanning takes place when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. The lamps in indoor tanning equipment emit UV light, as the sun does, but with different ratio of UVA and UVB and in a more controlled environment. In a sunbed, you have control over your exposure and you can achieve even results following the correct exposure times for your skin.
Before using a sunbed you must be firstly aware of your skin type. It is recommended to ask your dermatologist and complete a skin analysis form which will determine your skin type. This will enable you to know your tanning abilities and how to use a sunbed wisely avoiding overexposure. Your skin type determines if your skin is suitable for tanning and for how long you are able to be exposed to UV radiation. You can find out about skin types and their sun exposure here.
The outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, replaces the upper cells every 28-30 days. It takes 4 weeks for the cells to move to the surface and ‘slough off’. So this means that your tan can last approximately 2-4 weeks after your last session.
Keeping your skin healthy and moisturised is the number one factor, which enables you to tan quicker and maintain your tan for longer. After a tanning session, the skin continues to produce melanin for the next 12 hours and keeping the skin moisturised during that time is essential. At The Glow Up, we stock some of the most known sunbed creams and moisturisers formulated to intensify your tan, hydrate your skin, repair any skin damage caused by dryness and prevent your skin from exfoliation. What is more, tanning on a regular basis will prevent your tan from fading and in combination with a moisturised skin will extend the length of your tan and make your skin look healthier and younger. We have a range that can be purchased in-store.
Eye protection is a must while tanning both indoors and outdoors. The use of goggles or other protective eyewear is not only a prerequisite for eye safety when using a sunbed but it is also required by the law.
Permanent jewellery or welded bracelets is one of the newest and most intriguing trends happening right now. We use a simple welding method to secure the most beautiful, delicate gold or silver chain to perfectly fit your wrist with a seamless, clasp less finish. The perfect 'forever' memento.
Absolutely. The bracelet is only welded closed, it does not weld to your skin. We use the highest quality machine on the market and the spark that is generated from the machine does not reach high temperatures. We also provide protective eyewear and a protective layer between the skin and the jewellery between welds.
Yes, although we love the fact these bracelets are clasp less and are the perfect 'forever' memento, they can be removed with a pair of sharp scissors. We can also add a clasp at any point if you decide to make it removable.
Jewellery will only set off metal detectors if it's made from magnetic metals. Solid gold is not magnetic so will not set off airport alarms. Sterling silver is also not magnetic.
Solid gold or silver does not impact an MRI scan as it is not magnetic. However some medical professionals ask you to remove all jewellery or clothing with metal parts. If your welded jewellery needs to be removed, simply cut the chain at the jump ring and it can be brought back to the salon to be re welded.
There is no minimum age requirement. However, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. It is a good idea to check your school's policies regarding wearing jewellery for sports etc.
This jewelry can undergo months of wear without needing to be cleansed! To maintain the integrity of the link, aftercare can be used to remove debris or build-up.An aftercare kit will be provided to help keep it looking its best.
As this is a bespoke, personalised service with made-to-measure chains, we can not offer refunds. If you lose your chain we can not offer a refund. If you break your chain at the weld point within the first week, if you contact us and bring your chain back, we will re-weld it free of charge.
No, they do not need to breathe but you can use cuticle oil to rehydrate/nourish the new nail growth after getting a nail service.
Several reasons including medication, diet or injury/trauma to the nail. Unfortunately, it can just happen as you get older.
Yes, they will grow slower in the winter due to slower circulation in the body. Also, they will need more nourishing as they will take the brunt of the cold, even if you wear gloves, which can dry them and your skin.
You should get a haircut when you notice dry ends. The frequency of haircuts depends on your hair length and condition. Short hair typically needs a haircut every 4–6 weeks, while medium to long hair usually needs a haircut every 6–8 weeks.
On most heads of hair, that would mean getting a good 6-8 weeks between touch-ups – but sometimes, even with permanent colour, colour fade can happen within a few weeks. Why does this happen? Typically, hair colours are water-soluble. When you wash your hair, the colour molecules dissolve, and your new colour rinses away.

A 100% fee applies for no-shows, i.e., if you do not attend the booking. Clients who do not cancel or show up for a booking must pay for their missed appointments and possibly pre-pay for future appointments. HAIR - If you book a colouring service, you must book a consultation and skin test at least 48 hours before your first appointment. Otherwise, your service can not be carried out.
